A Sustainability Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing practices that promote environmental, social, and economic sustainability within an organization. This role involves developing strategies to reduce environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving initiatives that foster long-term ecological and social responsibility.

General Role Description and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental assessments to evaluate the impact of various activities and operations on the environment.
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies and action plans that are aligned with the goals of the organization or community.
  • Ensure that sustainability initiatives adhere to local, national, and international environmental laws and regulations.
  • Promote energy efficiency, resource conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing within the organization or community.
  • Advise on the integration of renewable energy sources and eco-friendly technologies to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Develop waste reduction and recycling programs aimed at minimizing waste and encouraging responsible disposal practices.
  • Provide guidance on sustainable building and infrastructure design, green certifications, and sustainable construction methods.
  • Promote sustainable transportation solutions, including public transit, bike infrastructure, and electric vehicles.
  • Advocate for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and ethical business practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders and the local community to gather feedback and build support for sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare sustainability reports that track progress, performance metrics, and accomplishments toward sustainability goals.
  • Offer training and educational resources to employees, community members, and stakeholders to enhance understanding of sustainability principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the client and line manager.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 15 years of experience working on large-scale projects.
  • Ideally, a combination of development experience and traditional PMO experience.
  • LEED APBD+C certification.
  • Must hold GSAS D&B CGP certification.
  • Experience in sustainable building design and construction projects.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing LEED and GSAS projects.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English.
