The Barista is responsible for professionally preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to customers in a courteous and timely manner. This role includes customer interaction, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring proper operation of all equipment. The Barista must comply with all food safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and serve various coffee and tea beverages, following standard recipes and catering to customer preferences.
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment needed for beverage preparation.
  • Stay informed about different coffee blends, roasts, and origins.
  • Warmly greet customers and accurately take their orders.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve any complaints promptly.
  • Handle transactions using the cash register or POS system, ensuring correct pricing and billing.
  • Manage cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately.
  • Keep a balanced cash drawer and report any discrepancies.
  • Keep the bar area clean and organized, including countertops, equipment, and seating.
  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
  • Monitor inventory and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Report any inventory shortages to the supervisor.
  • Assist in inventory counts and supply orders.
  • Prepare all beverages to meet quality standards.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Report any issues with product quality or equipment to the manager.
  • Manage inventory to maintain correct par stock levels.
  • Provide Restaurant Management with updates on required additional beverage orders.
  • Understand the essential functionalities of the MICROS system.
  • Participate in events or activities with other outlets as needed.
  • Know and recall the origin and ingredients of each beverage.
  • Create new mocktails or hot beverages based on management guidance or seasonal trends, following industry trends.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a barista or in a customer service role is preferred.
  • Basic math and cash handling skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in hospitality, bar, or club environment.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and confidence.
