Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Civil/Structural Engineering tasks throughout all stages of assigned projects.
- Review and verify all project drawings and documents (civil, structural, specifications, calculations, and proposed materials) submitted by others to ensure compliance with project scope, specifications, applicable standards, and codes.
- Participate in and assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and hand-over activities of projects.
- Review and assess Contract Changes/Variations against approved guidelines, applicable codes, standards, and practices, and provide recommendations for the approval or rejection of technical deviations.
- Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organizations to ensure scope compliance and collaborate with these organizations to resolve technical issues.
- Lead the technical team and assist the Senior Project Engineer with all technical aspects related to the assigned projects.
- Coordinate with the appointed Qatar Registered Consultant (QRC), who is responsible for construction management and supervision, as required.
- Conduct evaluations of technical bid packages to ensure scope compliance.
- Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multi-discipline engineers to ensure the timely delivery of technical services in line with project requirements.
- Coordinate engineering designs, develop, and review multi-disciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness.
- Support the development of technical skills and competencies for oneself and co-workers.
- Participate in structured training programs for Associate Qatari Engineers.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
- Resolve technical challenges related to Civil/Structural Engineering work and adjacent discipline issues.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Structural Design & Construction, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Structural Design & Construction for large buildings and civil/infrastructure projects, including at least 6 years in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience with water-retaining structures and dewatering is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction activities and project management.
- Familiarity with international and local standards, including BS, EN, ASTM, and QCS, relevant to the area of expertise.
- Experience with project pre-commissioning, commissioning, and hand-over activities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in MS Office and structural design software.
