About the Role:
The Life Underwriting Manager is tasked with overseeing the development, performance, governance, and administration of the organization’s life insurance offerings. This role ensures efficient service delivery and maximizes performance and value in alignment with pre-determined objectives. The manager is also responsible for upholding company policies and ethical standards while managing the strategic and operational functions of the underwriting department.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Option 1: Postgraduate Diploma (Bachelor’s degree plus 1-2 years diploma) or equivalent, with 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
Option 2: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Pharmacy, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, with 12 years of relevant experience.
Certifications:
FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute)
LOMA (Life Office Management Association)
CII (Chartered Insurance Institute)
Experience:
Proven ability to formulate strategic plans and budgets for the Life Underwriting Department.
Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing best practices aligned with industry trends and standards across the group.
Skilled in overseeing daily operations, enhancing procedures, and managing profitability and risk assessment.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Bilingual proficiency preferred (English and Arabic – reading, writing, and speaking).
