A SHES Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, environment, and security of an organization. They develop and implement safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. SHES specialists also investigate incidents, provide training, and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
SHES Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- SHES Oversight: Monitor and support contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to SHES plans and procedures. Participate in daily safety meetings and provide safety coaching and guidance.
- Safety Leadership: Promote a strong safety culture aligned with client values. Lead safety awareness initiatives and support incident investigation programs.
- Compliance Monitoring: Review contractor SHES plans and ensure site compliance with regulatory standards. Verify and mentor SHES personnel to maintain high safety performance.
- Field Presence: Maintain a visible presence on-site to promote safety and address SHES-related concerns. Support safety reviews, audits, and pre-startup safety assessments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication and problem resolution between internal teams, contractors, subcontractors, and external regulatory bodies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education and Certification: NVQ Level 5 in SHES or 15+ years of equivalent experience. NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent. SHES Lead Auditor Certification and training in Root Cause Analysis (e.g., TapRooT®, Tripod Beta).
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in occupational health and safety, with experience in large-scale international projects and familiarity with Tier-1 EPC contractors and onshore production facility construction.
- Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, expertise in developing and implementing safety programs, proficiency in problem-solving, multitasking, and teamwork, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
