Data and Cybersecurity – (Assistant / Associate Professor)

Faculty members in the College of Computing and IT play a key role in fostering high-quality applied learning, innovative research, and service. They are expected to work closely with the Head of Department, Dean, and colleagues to fulfill the college’s mission, mentor junior faculty and teaching assistants, and provide various academic and administrative services.

Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of courses within Data and Cyber Security, with special emphasis on areas like Ethical Hacking, Cyber Defense, Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security, and Cyber Security Policy & Governance. Candidates with strong expertise in other areas of Cyber Security are also welcome. Additional duties include student evaluation, management of learning resources, and maintaining course portfolios for accreditation. The role also involves liaising with industry and other educational institutions, participating in advisory committees, and overseeing program-specific projects. Faculty members are expected to contribute to professional and community life within and beyond the university.

Skills and Qualifications

Faculty members will be placed at an appropriate rank based on their education and experience in academia and/or industry. Below are the general requirements.

Education:

• Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Cyber Security or a closely related field from an internationally recognized institution, with an undergraduate degree from an accredited university.

Experience Requirements:

For Assistant Professor:

• At least 3 years of teaching experience at the post-secondary or industry level.
• Preferably 3 years of professional experience within the relevant field.
• Strong research record with high-quality publications.
• Proven ability to supervise research students.
• Demonstrated leadership in fostering industry and professional partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cyber Security certification.
• Diploma in Education (e.g., Post-secondary Education, Adult Education, Vocational Education).
• 6+ years of professional experience in the relevant field.
• Experience leading technology-based projects.

For Associate Professor:

• At least 8 years of teaching experience at the post-secondary or industry level.
• Preferably 3 years of professional experience within the relevant field.
• Distinguished research profile with international reputation and high-impact publications.
• Strong track record in student research supervision.
• Demonstrated leadership in professional and industry engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cyber Security certification.
• Diploma in Education.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the relevant field.
• Experience in technology-based project leadership and innovation.
