A Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, adjustments, repairs, or overhauls on construction mechanical equipment, including vibrating compactors, asphalt pavers, and other asphalt equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow workshop policies, processes, and procedures as outlined in the operations manual and as directed by the manager.
Ensure that equipment and items are acquired and processed in a cost-effective, economical, and timely manner, adhering to company policies.
Report any non-compliance in operations.
Essential Duties and Functions:
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
Test mechanical products and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure they meet performance standards and manufacturer specifications.
Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose issues.
Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using tools like jacks and cranes.
Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using diagnostic equipment like computerized testing tools and calibration devices.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear with tools like micrometers and gauges.
Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Schedule maintenance for machines and equipment, keep service records, prepare service reports, and allocate time and parts efficiently.
Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
Additional Responsibilities
Assemble gear systems and align frames and gears.
Keep equipment ready for use by performing preventive maintenance, such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and replacement, and wheel balancing.
Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols, including proper disposal of vehicle fluids.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical publications.
Support maintenance and organizational goals by achieving related tasks as required.
Ensure customer satisfaction by understanding their needs and deadlines and completing repairs and services accurately, safely, and on time.
Skills:
1-Diagnostic & Troubleshooting: Proficient in identifying operating errors and determining corrective actions. Requires diagnostic skills, knowledge of on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems, and mechanical problem-solving abilities.
2-Equipment Maintenance: Skilled in routine maintenance and understanding when and what type of maintenance is required; ability to read hydraulic schematics and maintain records.
3-Time Management: Able to manage own time and coordinate with others.
4-Teamwork: Works effectively within a team alongside technicians and assistants.

ITI (Industrial Training Institute) or Diploma.
Formal Training in Heavy Equipment Repair.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
