An Industrial Mechanical Trainer (Plumbing/HVAC/Welding) is responsible for training individuals or teams in the industrial mechanical fields, specifically in plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and welding. This role involves designing and delivering training programs, conducting hands-on demonstrations, and ensuring that trainees understand industry standards, safety procedures, and technical skills. The trainer is expected to have deep technical expertise in these areas and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to trainees, ensuring they are prepared for real-world industrial tasks.
As an instructional faculty member, you will report to the Head of the Department and will be responsible for delivering and evaluating a wide range of courses within the Industrial Trades (Industrial Mechanical) programs. You will assess student progress and manage resources in the learning environment. Additionally, you will oversee the inventory, monitoring, and maintenance of workshop and laboratory equipment within the specified program area. You will collaborate with other faculty members, staff, and instructional colleagues to provide outstanding learning experiences for students and trainees.
You will maintain course portfolio documents required for program review and accreditation processes and will participate in instructional and new program development. The College encourages applicants who will contribute to innovation in the field.
Qualifications
Instructional faculty members will be appointed to the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. Below are the general criteria:
For Industrial Trades Instructor
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a trade designation in the relevant discipline, with employment experience and professional credentials or certification in fields such as HVAC, Plumbing, Welding, or Rotating Equipment from a recognized and accredited institution.
Experience
At least five (5) years of practical experience within the relevant discipline.
A minimum of three (3) years of training experience.
Competence in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
Ability to apply various teaching methods in the classroom and during practical experiences, including labs, simulations, and practicums.
Familiarity with using a range of educational technologies and platforms.
Demonstrate academic and information literacy skills.
