An Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. They work with wiring, circuits, and electrical components, ensuring everything functions efficiently and safely.
Electrical Technician
Our client in Qatar is seeking an Electrical Technician who will be responsible for supervising and/or performing preventive and corrective maintenance on low and medium voltage electrical systems, electrical motors, switchboards, and automation systems aboard ships.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the crew to ensure the correct execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks not covered by the on-board crew.
- Provide support to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for maintenance tasks not under the responsibility of the on-board crew.
- Handle activities related to warranty claims resolution and ensure compliance with contractual and safety regulations.
- Perform harbour and sea trials of equipment when necessary.
- Participate occasionally in the transfer of ships between ports, including outside Qatar.
- The technician must be capable of performing minor electrical work, repairs, disassembly/assembly, failure analysis, and troubleshooting.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree required.
- 8-10 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Experience in shipbuilding and on-board maintenance (preferably on military vessels) is a plus.
- Prior experience on military (Navy), merchant, or cruise ships is advantageous.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a plus.
