Senior Project Engineer – Automation
Job Overview
The Senior Automation Project Engineer will be involved in the entire project life cycle. He will also lead the client interactions for a project/task and ensure information is uniformly distributed amongst all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Review tender documents and provide inputs to the proposals team based on technical experience, past learnings.
- Support proposals team for the techno-commercial proposals.
- Lead the project management tasks with the support of the project team.
- Conduct kick-off meetings.
- Initiate suitable cost optimization initiatives.
- Lead the project management activities – engineering documentation, test procedures, procurement, scheduling, reporting.
- Vendor & other stakeholders follow up.
- Submit progress reports & mitigation plans as required.
- Project closure.
- Primary liaison for ATEX/IECEx certification consultant.
- Provide technical leadership to the team for sales initiatives.
- Assist in the invoicing process – support documentation, cost-of-goods, milestone identification etc.
- Provide regular updates to Management on projects progress, customer visits, etc.
- Travel as needed to support product sales, field runs and troubleshooting.
- Provide training and support to other team members where needed.
- Conduct all activities within the Weatherford policies, procedures, and TWI (Technical Work Instructions).
Skills:
- Background in Oil & Gas projects is essential.
- Experience in RTUs, PLCs, SCADA – design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in interacting with customer or other stake holders and understanding their requirements.
- Experience in communication protocols – MODBUS, Serial communication, DNP3 etc.
- Experience with Fiber Optic communication, radio communication, HMI programming.
- Willingness for site travel – onshore & offshore.
- AutoCAD (Basic)
- MS Project for scheduling, reporting.
- Awareness of ATEX/IECEx certifications.
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree in Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation.
- Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience in techno-commercial proposals for RTU-SCADA, control systems are an advantage.
