A Roads Inspector is responsible for ensuring that roads and highways are safe for public use. They conduct regular inspections to identify and report any potential hazards, such as potholes, cracks, or signs of wear and tear. Additionally, they may oversee road construction and maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Alignment: Understand the scope, tasks, and targets of the Road Operations and Management Department.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders, including Management Consultants and contractors, to execute road network operations and maintenance.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect and supervise road repair works to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Resource Management: Monitor work schedules, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources (equipment, materials, personnel) effectively.
  • Major Repair Oversight: Administer, prioritize, and oversee major road network repairs, assigning maintenance crews as needed.
  • Design Collaboration: Work proactively with the RMD and design consultants to address design-related issues.
  • Prioritization and Assignment: Prioritize road network repair projects and assign work to outsourced maintenance crews, considering the criticality of each task.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, coordinating with maintenance contractors or in-house teams.
  • Project Support: Assist the project team in ensuring adherence to technical standards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement quarterly, annual, and long-term maintenance plans based on asset management standards and recommendations.
  • Network Improvement: Collaborate with the Design Department to develop and implement improvements to existing road networks.
  • Contractor Management: Manage, supervise, and monitor the performance of maintenance contractors to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Expert Consultation: Seek advice from the Road Networks Engineering Advisor/Expert on complex issues.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures and comply with new work instructions.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma in a relevant field or higher.
  • Driving License: Valid Qatar Driving License (optional).
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of EAMS or similar systems, SQL scripting, asset management standards (e.g., PAS55, ISO55000), and associated systems (GIS, CRMS, ERP).
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
