Duties & Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
- Manage a caseload of registered students through advising and counseling, which includes developing organizational and study skills, advocacy, family communication, record-keeping, and necessary referrals for academic success.
- Evaluate documentation to determine suitable and reasonable accommodations; conduct intake meetings, and facilitate the coordination of accommodations among faculty, students, and the Business Unit, including assistance with Testing Center requirements and assistive technology needs.
- Address accessibility concerns for incoming and newly admitted students by implementing possible interventions.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, verification, documentation, and authorization of academic accommodations.
- Aid in the preparation and distribution of accommodation notices, informing students and faculty about approved accommodations.
- Facilitate access to support services, which include test accommodations, note-takers, tutors, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, test proctoring, and related services for students with special needs.
- Conduct intake assessments, and verify and evaluate students’ medical or neuropsychological disability documentation.
- Create accommodation letters that outline the approved accommodations for students related to their courses.
- Collaborate with campus partners to ensure the implementation of academic and testing accommodations for students with special needs.
- Consult with faculty regarding individual student cases and provide professional development aimed at enhancing support for students with documented special needs to promote their success.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
Language:
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
